Legal Advocacy
A (Non-Attorney) legal advocate is available upon referral to provide survivors with information about legal options.
The legal advocate will not give legal advice but can provide information about the justice process, as well as the following services:
- Assistance exploring legal options and understanding the legal process
- Safety planning and identifying appropriate resource referrals
- Assistance with filing paperwork for civil processes such as divorce, custody, protection orders, and immigration
- Accompaniment to legal appointments and court proceedings for emotional support
- Information about obtaining legal council
To be referred to the legal advocate, you must be an established client with the Interior Alaska Center for Nonviolent Living. Call the 24/7 confidential hotline 907-452-2293 to speak with the advocacy team to coordinate an assessment and referral process.
