Prevention Specialist

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

Provide prevention information including but not limited to the 4th R Curriculum, Sources of Strength, Girls on the Run, personal safety, and the dynamics of healthy relationships to school aged youth in IAC’s catchment area. This position will assist with the creation and update of culturally sensitive school age curriculum regarding domestic violence, sexual assault, suicide, and bullying issues for use with the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District and outlying school districts in the catchment area. They will provide information and trainings to teachers in the school districts regarding the 4th R Curriculum, Sources of Strength, personal safety issues and prevention of domestic violence, sexual assault, substance abuse, and suicide. They will participate in community prevention initiatives such as Green Dot, Sources of Strength Fairbanks Prevention Alliance, and the Domestic Violence Prevention Team and work with community groups to participate in events to increase the awareness of prevention efforts in the community. The Prevention Specialist will also assist in the evaluation of community initiatives and prevention programs and provide information on the services IAC provides to community groups and organizations.

Minimum Qualifications

Associates degree in human services, child development, education or a closely related field (Job, or school experience may be used in lieu of the degree). Have a commitment to the agency's mission and goals and ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and lifestyles. They will be proficient with computers and ability to do data entry and have excellent interpersonal, group, and written communication skills. Must have knowledge and an understanding of Alaska culture, lifestyles, and life in rural Alaska, a valid Alaska Driver’s License, the ability to travel by plane, boat, or car for extended periods of time and ability to pass a background check

Building Manager

IAC is looking for an energetic individual who enjoys diversity in their job to join our team as our Housing Program's Building Monitor. ● Implement all PSH policies and procedures
● Monitor the PSH building to ensure that the residents are safe
● Clean and disinfect common areas and high touch surfaces
● Observe cameras during shift and monitor the interior and exterior of the building for any unusual, illegal, or disruptive situations
● Provide for overnight snow removal and property upkeep when necessary
● Assist residents with lock outs
● Assist emergency responders in accessing the building
● Document and communicate shift notes in a method set by the Housing Director

Part Time Birch Visitation Monitors

The Birch Center is currently looking for a Part Time Visitation Monitor. The responsibilities of this position include: facilitating a safe, positive, and comfortable atmosphere for children to visit with their non-custodial parent while providing active monitoring of visits to ensure the safety of the victim and their children. The candidate will also provide monitoring services for supervised exchanges and will engage in and role model direct conflict resolution and mediation while presenting a professional demeanor to the community through appearance, communication and presentation.

Minimum Qualifications: Associates Degree in Child Development, Human Services, or closely related field. Job, school or life experience may be used in lieu of the degree. Careline Full Time Crisis Intervention Specialists

Careline is currently looking for a Full Time Crisis Intervention Specialist. In this position you will have the ability to implement policies, protocols and services designed to assist individuals who are thinking of or planning to commit suicide, are impacted by someone with suicidal behavior, or who are experiencing crisis that without assistance, may turn into suicidal behavior. Services are provided via phone call or text messaging. The Crisis Intervention Specialist will maintain client confidentiality except in cases where client needs must be communicated to appropriate staff and emergency personnel, provide support, information and referral for non-crisis calls, maintain accurate records of lethality assessments and client information, and other duties as assigned by the Careline Coordinator. 

Minimum qualifications include the availability to work nights, an Associates Degree in Social Work or a closely related field; prior work or life experience may be used in lieu of the degree, excellent interpersonal, group, and written communication skills, a commitment to agency's mission and goals, an ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures and lifestyles, an ability to work independently, an ability to pass background check, proficient with computers, and an ability to do data entry.

Maintenance Technician

Do you enjoy doing maintenance and want to give back to your community? If so, the Interior Alaska Center for Non-Violent Living is looking for a Maintenance Technician to provide minor repairs to include plumbing, heating, electrical, and carpentry. This position will also be responsible for maintaining a schedule of required maintenance and arrange as needed, rehabilitating units in buildings as needed, and assisting with quarterly maintenance and safety inspections. The Maintenance Technician will maintain the exterior around IAC's property, maintain the garage and work areas, assist in the organization of donations, and the disposal of trash, and other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Coordinator.

Minimum qualifications include: A demonstrated understanding of basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and heating. 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED. A commitment to the agency’s mission and goals. The ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and lifestyles and the ability to lift 50 lbs. A valid Alaska Driver’s License. Excellent interpersonal, group, and written communication skills and the ability to pass background check.

Part Time Birch Visitation Security

The Birch Center is currently looking for Relief Visitation Security. This position is specifically afternoons/evenings and weekends. The essential functions and responsibilities of this position include providing active security during supervised visits and exchanges to ensure safety including video monitoring, communication monitoring, walk through, and escorts as appropriate in compliance with safety procedures, maintaining confidentiality, providing assistance in scheduling, and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: One year prior experience in the security field and a high school diploma/GED. Excellent interpersonal, group and written communication skills. Prior demonstrated ability of working with people of diverse backgrounds, culture and lifestyles. Ability to maintain boundaries. Proficient with computers and an ability to do data entry. Full Time and Relief Advocates

Interior Alaska Center for Non-Violent Living is looking for Victim Advocates to join our team. In this position you will have the opportunity to provide crisis intervention, systems advocacy and support to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. 

Minimum Qualifications: Must be able to work weekends, evenings and overnights. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have basic computer skills and the ability to be flexible in a fast paced teamwork environment. The ideal candidate will have experience handling sensitive issues in a mature and confidential manner with integrity and compassion. Associates degree in Human Services or closely related field; sufficient job, school or life experience may be used in lieu of the Associates degree. Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and lifestyles.Commitment to agency mission and goals. Ability to pass a background check.
