Essential Functions

Agency Personnel Functions

  • Supervise the staff and volunteers of the Prevention, Education, Outreach, and Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) Programs
  • Recruit, screen, interview, and make hiring recommendations for program positions
  • Conduct performance evaluations as listed in the personnel manual
  • Conduct and document disciplinary actions and make recommendations for termination
  • Follow all federal and state labor laws governing personnel including but not limited to ADA, EEOC, and State of Alaska wage and hour
  • Hold regular meetings with department employees

Prevention, Outreach, and Education Programs

  • Implement the goals and objectives of the Prevention, Rural Outreach, and Education Programs
  • Oversee the work of the Prevention Specialists
  • Network within the Interior to build collaborative efforts in the areas of prevention
  • Provide leadership for the Fairbanks Prevention Alliance (FPA), including meeting facilitation, meeting minutes, e-mail upkeep, and meeting reminders as preferred by the FPA
  • Create, maintain and update a prevention strategy for the Fairbanks area in conjunction with the FPA
  • Implement evidence-based prevention programming throughout the Interior region
  • Work with statewide partners to ensure IAC is included in prevention training and grant opportunities
  • Conduct periodic evaluation of program and program components
  • Substitute for program staff as needed
  • Assist in grant preparation for program areas
  • Schedule and provide presentations for community groups regarding prevention of domestic violence and/or sexual assault, and other relevant issues with related risk and protective factors
  • Provide reports as requested by funders
  • Participate in fundraising activities
  • Maintain up-to-date training manuals for the Prevention, Rural Outreach, and Education Programs
  • Communicate program needs to Executive Director

Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) Program

  • Recruit and provide supervision to SART advocates, including volunteers
  • Coordinate the training of SART advocates with community partners
  • Provide community education about sexual assault prevention and response
  • Oversee sexual assault survivor support group facilitation
  • Ensure SART advocates are providing adequate and relevant follow-up after meeting with a victim
  • Ensure proper documentation and procedure of advocates during SART calls
  • Provide grant writing and assistance for appropriate funding opportunities
  • Communicate program needs to Executive Director

SAFE-T Housing Program

  • Provide grant support to SAFE-T funding
  • Coordinate outreach, prevention, and awareness related to sex trafficking in the Interior
  • Facilitate and participate in statewide trafficking coalitions and trainings when applicable

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Marketing, or a closely related field. Job or school experience can be used in lieu of the degree
  • Knowledge of the Fairbanks community
  • Proficient with computers, database input, presentation programming and equipment
  • Experience in meeting facilitation
  • Excellent interpersonal, group, and written communication skills
  • Comfortable with public speaking
  • Commitment to agency’s mission and goals
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures and lifestyles
  • Ability to pass background check
  • Valid Alaska Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Education, Marketing, Social Work, or a closely related field
  • Three years’ experience executing public events or non-profit development
  • Three years’ experience in power-based violence prevention or response

Supervision: Directly responsible to the Deputy Programs Director

Hours:  This job is anticipated to require a commitment of 40 hours a week to adequately complete. Evenings and weekends as appropriate.
