Sexual Assault Response Team (SART):
Anyone who is reporting, or anonymously reporting, a sexual assault or domestic violence-affiliated strangulation can request an advocate 24/7 to provide the following services:
- Support during a forensic exam and forensic interview, at the hospital or with law enforcement
- Follow up safety planning, survivor services referrals, and trauma-informed care
- Ongoing legal support during the reported investigation process
There is no statue of limitations in the state of Alaska when it comes to reporting sexual assault.
If an assault occurred within 7 days, a survivor has the option to receive a medical forensic exam to collect evidence at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital. A law enforcement interview may also be conducted, or a survivor can choose to remain anonymous and not report but still receive the exam.
If it has been more than 7 days, a survivor has the option to file a report with law enforcement and pursue an investigation no matter how much time has passed.
To begin the process, or get more information contact an advocate at the 24/7 hotline 907-452-2293.
You can also report directly to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, or the Alaska State Troopers station and request for an advocate to be present to support you through the process.
