Run for Respect

The first annual Run for Respect event for the Interior Alaska Center for Non-Violent Living (IAC) is September 14, 2024 at Pioneer Park. Run for Respect is a non-competitive 5K run/walk and a fun opportunity for you and your organization to get involved in raising awareness about domestic violence and support survivors in our community. Please join us in working together today to create a safer tomorrow.

The Interior Alaska Center for Non-Violent Living is an essential and critical link for providing meaningful services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, dating violence, and human trafficking in Interior Alaska. In a recent Community Health Needs Assessment, the issue of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault was ranked 3rd by residents as a top health concern.  A 2020 study done by the UAA Justice Center found that 34.6% or 11,749 women in the Fairbanks North Star Borough had experienced intimate partner violence during their lifetime, and 10.8% or 1,164 women in the Borough had experienced this violence in the last twelve months. Approximately 22% of homeless individuals entering our community Homeless Management Information System are fleeing domestic violence.
