Responsibilities
● Interact with clients and staff members in a manner that is respectful and empowering

and presentation
Essential Functions
Advocacy
● Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Alaska Statute 18.66.200
● Maintain a working knowledge of Federal and State laws that affect victims of sexual
assault
● Implement policies, protocols, and services designed to advocacy and support to victims
who have experienced sexual assault or who are impacted by sexual assault
● Provide services to victims who have experienced sexual assault and are residing in
emergency shelter, calling on the phone, a non-residential walk in, or a partner or prior
partner attending batterer’s intervention classes
● Provide SART response at the hospital as requested by forensic nurses or law
enforcement
● Facilitate or co-facilitate groups as needed
● Provide back-up as necessary for court advocacy
● Hold regular meetings with department employees
● Assess the needs of clients and make appropriate community referrals
● Maintain accurate records and submit reports in a timely manner
Residential Shelter Management
● Implement procedures to ensure the safety of the building
● Support receptionist in answering business and client doors and screening individuals
through security system
Prevention Programs
● Provide information and support for primary prevention programming such as Coaching
Boys Into Men, Girls on the Run, and Sources of Strength
● Develop partnerships with key community members and allies to implement
programming within the Interior
● Work with community groups to support events dedicated or related to IAC’s mission and
vision
● Facilitate or co-facilitate community groups
● Support the Fairbanks Prevention Alliance meetings and events
● Substitute for program staff as needed
● Assist in IAC Prevention social media
● Participate in educational trainings about sexual assault, domestic violence, teen dating
violence, sex trafficking, and stalking
Minimum Qualifications
● Associate’s degree in human services or a closely related field; sufficient job, school, or
life experience may be used in lieu of the degree
● Excellent interpersonal, group, and written communication skills
● Ability to handle sensitive issues in a mature, confident manner with integrity and
compassion
● Commitment to agency’s mission and goals
● Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures and lifestyles
● Ability to pass background check
● Valid Alaska Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications
● Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work or a related field
● Knowledge of Alaskan Cultures, Fairbanks community, and other social service agencies
● Work or life experience in the field of domestic violence or sexual assault, including
trainings and/or certificates in these fields
Supervision: Directly responsible to the Prevention Director
Hours: This job is meant to cover available shifts for Sexual Assault Response and
opportunities for Prevention Programming that the Prevention Advocates and Substitute Sexual
Assault Response Advocates are unable to cover. The response hours for this position are not
expected to meet full-time requirements. There is no minimum number of guaranteed hours.
Available hours will vary by week based on the availability of all trained staff. Shifts will
together provide 24 hour on-call coverage.
Salary: Range 23 Non-Exempt ($20.90-$23.51) while responding performing job duties. Every
assigned 8-hour on-call Sexual Assault Response shift is compensated with a $20 stipend if the
responder is not activated.
